Behavioral Neuroscience and Behavioral Disorders School
(September 16th- September 25th, Montevideo, Uruguay)

This school will focus on the neural basis of behavior and the origin of behavioral disorders. It will consist of different lectures, seminars, and experimental work covering fundamental, translational, and clinical studies and techniques aimed to research in neurodevelopment, sexual, parental, aggressive/defensive behavior, reward and aversion, stress and anxiety, cognition, and consciousness.
This School will cover mainly mammalian species, emphasizing the human health and disease. Students will participate of short experimental projects. The school will be intense and is planned to last 9 days. During that intensive week all students will be exposed to different techniques used in animals or humans for research purposes (Immunohistochemistry, local field potential recording, PET, behavioral test, stereotaxic surgery and brain lesions, among others).
Basic, translational and clinical researchers from Latin America and outside the region will be invited to participate in person or virtually.
The school is mainly focused on graduate students with backgrounds in Science, Medicine, Psychology and other related disciplines.
The school’s classes and conferences will be conducted in English and will be open to the public (prior registration). Only practical activities will be restricted to students.
There is a limited number of places to participate in the entire school (12 local students and 12 students from Latin America).

Escuela Neurociencias y Trastornos del Comportamiento

Esta escuela se centrará en las bases neuronales del comportamiento y el origen de los trastornos del comportamiento. Constará de varias conferencias, seminarios y trabajos experimentales que cubrirán estudios fundamentales y clínicos, y técnicas destinadas a la investigación en neurodesarrollo, comportamiento sexual, parental, agresivo/defensivo, recompensa y aversión, estrés y ansiedad, cognición y conciencia.
Esta Escuela abarcará principalmente especies de mamíferos, haciendo énfasis en la salud y enfermedad humana. Los estudiantes participarán de pequeños proyectos experimentales. La escuela será intensiva y durará 9 días. Durante esos días, los estudiantes aprenderán las bases de diferentes técnicas (inmunohistoquímica, registro de EEG o potenciales de campo locales, PET, tests de comportamiento, cirugía estereotáxica, entre otras) utilizadas en animales de experimentación o en humanos para realizar investigación en esta área.
Se invitará a participar presencial o virtualmente a docentes de investigación básica, traslacional y clínica de América Latina y de fuera de la región.
La escuela está enfocada principalmente a estudiantes de postgrado con formación en Ciencias, Medicina, y Psicología y otras disciplinas relacionadas a la temática.
Las clases y conferencias de la escuela serán impartidas en inglés y estarán abiertas al público (previo registro). Sólo las actividades prácticas serán restringidas a cupos de estudiantes.
Los cupos para participar de la totalidad de la escuela son limitados (12 estudiantes locales y 12 de Latinoamérica).
Los estudiantes interesados deben enviar carta de motivación, CV, escolaridad de grado o posgrado y solicitud de apoyo económico (contamos con becas) para traslado y estadía si lo necesita. Enviar los archivos a schoolbehavioralneuroscience@gmail.com
